800AD to the present day by
The Goldsmith's Company
, and under the patronage of
the Archbishop of Canterbury. Goldsmiths' Hall, Foster Lane, London (nearest tube station St. Paul's). The largest exhibition of its kind with over 330 objects on display. Annual
Bradwell Pilgrimage to the Chapel of
St. Peter's-on-the-Wall. This year the theme is 'water' and to keep with the theme Pilgrims might like to wear something blue. Walk with us to St Peter's Chapel and the Essex coast where sky and water meet. Come and enjoy the deep peace of the running wave, the flowing air and the gentle earth. The pilgrimage is a great ecumenical experience in the celtic tradition. There will be an Opening Service in Bradwell Village and a Closing Service at St. Cedd's Saxon Chapel. Bring a picnic and enjoy outdoor worship - seashore walks - many stalls with resources for today's faith - bookstalls - refreshments. Visit the Othona Community. Lots for both adults and children of all ages. 10.45am Assemble at St Thomas's Parish church, Bradwell-on-Sea. 11.00am Opening act of worship, followed by a two-mile walk to St. Peter's Chapel , a place hallowed by nearly 1400 years of Christian prayer. During the gentle 2-mile stroll reflect on the unique and special character of this place, and the giant leap made by Saint Cedd when he brought Christianity to Essex in AD 654. Transport will be available for those who need it. Celtic songs and harp music will be performed in the Chapel by Annie Mawson During the day there will be a Renewal of Vows service on the beach and reflections and presentations on the theme of 'water'. Lunches will be available at the Othona Community by Advance Booking on 01621 776564. 3.15pm Closing Service at St Peter's Chapel. 4.00pm (approx) Finish. Throughout July and August there will be a series of Sunday evening Services on the theme 'Everything Has its Time' at 6.30pm in St. Peter's Chapel. These Services will reflect the rich diversity of our Christian tradition. |

| Sunday 6th July | THE FEAST OF ST. SEXBURGA, abbess of Ely 679-c.700 Daughter of King Anna of East Anglia, Sexburga married Erconbert, king of Kent, by whom she had two sons who suceeded their fathers as kings, and two daughters, Erkengota and Ermengild. While Sexburga was queen she founded a nunnery at Minster-in-Sheppey, to which she retired as abbess after her husband's death in 664. In 679, on the death of her sister Etheldreda foundress of Ely, Sexburga became abbess there in her place. |

Assemble at St. Fursey's House 10am for Pilgrim Prayers. Travel by cars to Burgh Castle for Sixth Hour Service at 12noon. Picnic lunch (bring your own) 1.00 - 2.00pm.
